Herasita: '’I'm tryna reach that next level, I never want to peak.'

We reached out to up and coming rapper Herasita for an interview.

When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

You know, growing up in a religious home, I never listened to hip hop, especially since my parents are both Peruvian, whenever we were in the car or at family parties, they would always play that salsa music. Even though I listened to some music, I’ve never truly been passionate about it as I was for soccer at the time.

My older brother cesar was the first person to introduce me hip hop. My freshman year right before lunch, my friends and I would freestyle in the back of class. After awhile I just got better and Ik this is what I need to do.

Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

Lil Uzi Vert has to be by far my biggest inspiration as an artist. My brother Cesar would listen to uzi all the time, just listening to money longer and top for the first time, it was just bangers what can I say. We all know uzi a goat and I don’t really need to say much.

What would you like to achieve as an artist?

You know I really ain’t a delusional “SoundCloud rapper” I think of my music career exactly as an athletic career. You know all the sports have greats, but it just don’t come over night. You gotta work hard, train, have a diet, go to the gym, you get better and better. You dont just go to the pitch, score a couple goals then boom... you as big as Messi. Nah everything takes time, not everyone wants to be the next Michael Jordan or Lionel Messi. But they still play the sport and love what they do even if they never become professional. That’s exactly how I feel about rapping. Each day I’m just getting better and better, I’m tryna reach that next level, I never want to peak. I’m a keep working hard, you know I would love to become the next up and coming rappers, but if that don’t happen in the next month, year, 2 years, 8 years etc. etc. i will never quit. Cause I love what I do just like a sport.

Tell us about your recent single “I’m impulsive” and what it means to you?

You know every rapper is gonna have people who bring them down, ever since the beginning I’ve always had people who would bring me down and tell me I should just quit. It’s not easy listening to people saying your music is “dog s**t” after you put hours of hard work and time to it. All my life I’ve had adhd, and I’ve always decisions without thinking bout the consequences, I really made this song as a reminder to myself that, nobody’s perfect we all make mistakes, but I wanna learn from them. People can have a different meaning to this song, but for me I just wanna say that sometimes seeing all the hate and all the negativity, really brings me down sometimes to the point where I just wanna give up, but at the end of the day Quitting will never be the answer. You see the lyrics are pretty straight forward, i mean when I listen to it I can understand it clearly, but I guess people just say “oh nice track goes hard” or “flow goes hard man” but my impulsivity is something I really struggle with sometimes and I need to learn how to control it better sometimes.

I see you said you grew up in a religious household, how do your family and friends think of your decision to do rap?

You know I’ve talked to them about it, they really ain’t to keen about it, mom was hoping I’d be the president or a pastor, but they ant me to do whatever makes me happy. I don’t really have any friends anymore to be honest, their all ashamed and embarrassed for me. They hope I quit cause they think it’s cringey, but I just cut them out my life.

Do you rap for just yourself or is there a bigger meaning?

Um honestly the only reason why I wanna rap is for my mom, her names Teresita, my rap name Herasita, I mainly just do it for her. I just want her to live a good and happy life. I’d say a big motivation of anything I do in my life is to make her proud, nobody wants to disappoint their parents.

What should we be looking forward to from you In the future?

You see I can’t really speak on that too.

Much into detail, but I have a project I’ve been working on that’s called “mosca” its an album I'm hoping with 11 songs. Still no release date, but I’m hoping you guys enjoy it and appreciate the hard work I’ve been putting in.

Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?

I just wanna give a big thanks to everybody who’s been supporting me. You know I really owe it to you, all the support from everyone has been incredible. I will forever be grateful for all the positivity I’ve been given. Thank you -Herasita.
