Tell us about your passion for music through your life journey?

Since as a youth listening to albums my parent would buy and enjoyed reading the lyrics and following along with the song. Reggae, classic rock and jazz to name a few. The household constantly had music playing. In my mid teens got right into hip hop eagerly jumping onto radio stations to hear the latest drops from NYC. Late teens I heard my first house tunes, again from NYC and I was hooked on that infectious beat and rhythm. It was then the introduction to Detroit techno struck a deep chord within. Mesmerized by the drum machine and layered sounds creating emotion from machines while breaking down barriers of genres from European electro-pop with raw urban America. This spurred the collection of vinyl by getting to the record shop anytime I could afford to, buying those limited copy house and techno records that made it to Toronto. Fast forward after the rave scene and tremendous jungle and drum and bass scene and hobby dj’ing locally and at a few clubs and radio stations while world travelling was an amazing experience. After world travels and a lot of records shops perusing and partying, it was time to start getting into music production to bring my own sonic creations to share with the world.

Who are your inspirations as an artist?

Electronica / Techno; Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen, Carl Craig, B12, Black Dog/Plaid, Sun Electric, Autechre, Stasis, Nuron, Kirk DiGiorgio, Aphex Twin, The Orb, Dave Angel, Dan Curtin, John Tejada, Seefeel, Arovane, Planet Boelex

House; Larry Heard, Chez Damier, Masters At Work, Boo Williams, Glenn Underground, Joey Youngman, DJ Sneak, AtJazz, Pepe Bradock, Chris Brann, Demarkus Lewis, Mark Farina, Time Writer, Ross Couch

Ambient; Brian Eno, William Basinski, Harold Budd, Steve Roach, Ulrich Schnauss, Biosphere, Global Communications, William Orbit, Thom Brennan, Future Sound of London.

Outside of musicians are the real everyday heroes – family, partners and friends. Those who move mountains and affect lives positively without any expectations. My daughter is one of them – after losing her mother/my wife way too early in life she has been my rock and guiding light that I am eternally grateful for. Helps me achieve in the studio when I am not even aware of it happening!

What would you like to achieve as an artist?

Continue to evolve in sonic soundscapes and rhythms and having that connect with others. Collaboration with other likeminded artist to carve new directions in rhythm and sounds

Who would like to collaborate with?

Some of the artist listed above and up and coming artist that just enjoy creating music. Hip hop artist, vocalist and jazz players the are open to bending dance/electronic sub genres.

What is a recent memorable moment as an artist?

One late evening in the studio I took some time out of beat creation and closed my eyes to visualize the music in my head as dancing shapes instead of sounds. It was an epiphany in breaking through to new approaches of making music. I look forward to this happening again and again in other ways for sound creations to be released and make more breakthroughs.

Tell us a little more about your recent project?

With all the recent changes and challenges in the world, I needed to take it back to the original cultures and some of the most mistreated cultures in history. I wanted to honor the first nations and their culture. Having spent time in first nations communities in other parts of the world brought me an awareness of the deepest connection and respect to their ancestors and to mother earth. Experiencing that was life changing and this recent project is to honor that.

How would you describe your sound?

Ha, that’s a good one. Really depends on my mood or headspace I’m in. Whether a techno, chillout, ambient or house music project, there will be some IDM/electronica influence splashed in there either blatantly or subtlety.

Is there anything else to share with us?

Yes, love and cherish those that support your dreams and help you achieve them, life is too short, make the most of it. Our recent global situation is an opportunity to take a step back and take stock of what is truly important in our lives.
