Classical Artists, William Goldstein & Maksim Velichkin, Collaborate On New Album 'INTENSITY

Two classical artists, William Goldstein and Maksim Velichkin, have come to collaborate and bring you a treasured classical album titled, Intensity.

This album is a unique classical crossover collaboration between William Goldstein and Maksim Velichkin. It includes an emotional arrangement for cello and piano from the academy award nominated song by Justin Hurwitz, Audition (The Fools Who Dream) from La La Land.

The music is both classical and contemporary, lyrical and beautiful, heartwarming and intense, comical and tragic. It is a collection of instant compositions, or improvisations, continuing the great tradition that dates back to Liszt, Beethoven, Mozart and Bach.

Every track except for "Audition" is completely improvised from scratch, with no prior preparation or melodic materials. This specialized technique is extremely rare. The only other well known example of such an advanced gift and musical technique is Keith Jarrett.

The album is truly one of a kind, the powerful collaboration between Goldstein and Velickin. Classical music is not my personal cup of tea, but this uniquely composed album changed my view on the genre. The duo did an exceptional job, and have truly composed a masterpiece.

William Goldstein is a 3 time Emmy nominated composer of more than 50 films including the TV series Fame, Motown recording artist, innovator of instant composition, and creator of the first computer sequenced score. His most formidable gift has always been his ability to sit at a piano and create "instant composition." He has gained a reputation as a unique keyboard improviser, spontaneously creating ballets with dancers of international renown, improvising complete scores to films that he is seeing for the first time; all in real time and in concert.

Maksim Velichkin is an accomplished cellist, pianist, and harpsichordist who has been active as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra artist among an international circle featuring venerable conductors and headlining classical stars. He has worked with James Levine, Kurt Masur, Charles Dutoit, Yuri Temirkanov, Wolfgang Sawallish, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, Sarah Chang, Maxim Vengerov, Yuri Bashmet, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Joshua Bell, Martha Argerich, Gabriela Montero, Renaud Capucon, Lynn Harrell, Misha Maisky, Frans Helmerson as well as many others. Maksim’s performances have been featured on Radio Swiss Romande, WQED FM in Pittsburgh, National Radio and Television of Uzbekistan. Moreover, as an improviser and interpreter of contemporary and popular music Maksim’s performance and recording career includes credits with noted musical celebrities Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, Billy Childs, Burt Bacharach, Bobby McFerrin, Dwight Trible, Bitter:Sweet, Chris Botti, Bob James, Josh Groban, Red Elvises, Bernadette Peters, Natalie Cole, Alan Silvestri, Richard Thompson and many others. He performs and tours frequently with the Verbier Chamber Orchestra throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
