Missy Miss Behave has released a new LP, Jagged Weather. The LP is a well composed soundtrack with elements of hardcore electronic use.
Emerging from a forgotten eyelet of the Bible Belt...
Missy Miss Behave is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer who just so happens to be transgender. Her music fuses acrobatic baroque melodies with thunderous drums, animated bass lines, and complex layered melodies. She released her debut album at the end of 2017, an EP and a single in early 2018, and has plan to release a second before the close of 2018. Centering on her transgender experience, she aims to tell stories from her joys and struggles.
Jagged Weather is the first full length work by artist Missy Miss Behave. In just under 36 minutes, she paints an intimate vignette into the first year of her transition.
Missy Miss Behave is a seasoned producer and multi-instrumentalist who just so happens to be transgender. She began playing cello at the age of three before beginning piano at five and guitar at ten. While at university, she began to produce original music in between class during the day and drowning her sorrows at night.
She is a multi-faceted eclectic oddball who defies gender norms almost as courageously as she defies the norms of genre. Jagged Weather showcases heavy dub, IDM, and hip-hop influences, as well as influences from emo and punk bands. Sprinkled throughout all the tracks, there is enough classical orchestration to make you the 3rd grade music teacher's pet.
The whole LP is unique and dynamically composed to create a different and memorable listening experience for the individual. One track that does stand out to me on the LP is Def Screams. The track is thickly compiled with elements to create for one extreme and intriguing composition where thanks to the lack of vocal aspects, you can create your own narrative and perceive the sounds without rules.
The use of creativity throughout the entire LP creates for a very dynamic and beautiful listening experience. This LP is second to none when it comes to this type of genre and you should listen to its contents as soon as you can. Tracks such as Def Screams, Jagged Weather and Wither make you appreciate the work produced and leave you wanting to hear more from the artist in the near future.
