Listen to the track Here

When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

I realized I had a passion for music late in life. I was a spoken word poet for many years as well as an avid hip hop head, so the transition made sense at that time. I haven’t stopped since.

Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

My main inspirations are (in no particular order) Bob Dylan, Kanye West, Nas, Jay Z, Big Pun, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Kid Cudi, Blu, Chance, Lauryn Hill, J Dilla.... I could go on forever haha.

What would you like to achieve as an artist? I want to achieve international success and recognition. I want to be looked at as an inspiration to the genre and someone who pushed it forward. I think anyone who says otherwise is placating to a falsified image of humility. That is the moon I’m shooting for. However, if I were to land amongst the stars of this being a day to day living, I would be more than happy with that.

What is your most memorable moment while being an artist? My most memorable moment of being an artist is, without a doubt, writing the title track of my debut album “Shades”. That song was a major breakthrough for me and really changed my reality.

What is the biggest artist you've worked with? The biggest artists I’ve worked with are Divine Brown and D-sisive. Both are legends in my country and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work with them.

Tell us a little more about your most recent project? My most recent project was an undertaking in hustle entitled “No Days Off”. I put out a track a week for 13 weeks. It was painstaking yet incredibly rewarding. Find it on SoundCloud.

What should we be looking forward to from you in the future? Postcard video soon, album soon, so many things! A tour in the fall across Canada opening for Samy Wats. Lots of fun stuff!
