Carolee Rainey releases her single “Deeper Than The Ocean” (Interview)
Singer/songwriter Carolee Rainey just dropped her single “Deeper Than The Ocean” under her new deal under Sony/Saphirre. The song is a beautiful piano based ballad with an extremely uplifting message about love. The lyrics,
“When love showed up at your front door it took your breath pulled you down Deeper than the Ocean Deeper than the Ocean” And “Once you know you've loved like this you can't go back to living on the surface” Speak of a deep love- too often void in today’s music- which is often temporal and vanity based. But here in Carolee’s song- we touch on something real and meaningful... Do yourself a favor and listen to this artist: Spotify
We were fortunate enough to interview this talent and discover her background as an artist:
When did you realise that you had a passion for music? I realized I had a passion for music when I was about 5 yrs old. I was riding on my little bicycle and suddenly had this epiphany where I looked up at the sky and was completely bewildered because I couldn’t understand how these artists with such beautiful singing voices could fit inside those pieces of vinyl! That was it. I was going to figure out how to squeeze myself into one of those pieces of vinyl someday and be a singer.
Who are you main inspirations as an artist?
I have so many inspirations as an artist even though they are not all musical. Last week I was at a museum and was so inspired by a Winslow Homer painting I dashed home and wrote a song about it. There is a song on my upcoming ep ‘Hustle Up’ that I wrote about the french sculptress Camille Claudel called ‘Camille.’ Musical inspirations include Joni Mitchell, Ed Sheeran, Alessia Cara, Rickie Lee Jones, Billie Holiday, Vonda Shepard, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Bach, Beethoven, several film composers such as Patrick Doyle, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard.
What would you like to achieve as an artist? My main goal as an artist is to positively inspire a global audience with my songs, performances and philosophies.
What is your most memorable moment while being an artist? My most memorable moment as an artist was probably recording my upcoming song ‘The Hustle.’ I had a great time writing the music and lyrics to that song ( its about NYC) but when I actually recorded it at Avatar Studios in NYC with the incredible musicianship of Richard Hammond, Doug Yowell, Thad Debrock, Clifford Carter and Robert L Smith producing and watched it come to life, that was a surreal moment. I was sure I made it to heaven.
What is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?
Mick Jagger ( haha)
Tell us a little more about your recent project?
I just released a single ‘Deeper Than The Ocean’ that you can find on Spotify which is also on my first ep ‘Feel Fearless.’ My dear friend’s Mom had passed suddenly and a month after the memorial we were all at my friend’s birthday party and her Dad was at the party. He and I were chatting for a while about how sad he was that his wife wasn’t there to celebrate they’re daughters birthday. I was devastated that I couldn’t offer the right words of solace and so the next morning I decided the least I could do was write the family a song, which became ‘Deeper Than The Ocean.’ What should we be looking forward to from you in the future? There is a ton to be looking for from me in the future. I’m absolutely thrilled to be on the Sony/Sapphire label and Singles from the upcoming EP ‘Hustle Up’ start releasing in November with a song I wrote called ‘You Matter’ where the message centers around hope for many of our country’s diverse groups that have had a difficult time getting they’re voices heard these past two years. Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
I think everyone on the planet has potential to create something inspiring for others. If you know of anyone that struggles with communication or purpose, remind them how healing it is to write a short poem, or paint a picture, write a song, photograph a tree. Artistry helps heal the world and this world needs lots of healing.
