Interview With Lil Zing

Fresh out of the Booth was fortunate enough to conduct an interview with rising talent, Lil Zing. We talked about his upcoming project Another Day, and discussed this talented musican's future plans for his career.

1) When did you realise that you had a passion for music? . I realized music was my passion in 2011 when I was in high school. I remember getting a bass guitar and trying to play a long with songs off the radio. I sucked so bad at first. Eventually I tried to write my own songs in 2013 once I got a Fender guitar. That year I recorded my first song Sunset in my room under artist name XCIV. 2) Who are your main inspirations as an artist? . I have always been a huge fan of Owl City (Adam Young). He was my inspiration for music in the first place. I loved the way he composed lyrics, fascinating. Another main inspiration is my friend Blackbear (Matt Musto). I remember hearing his song NYxLA and I was immediately hooked in by the emotion behind his voice. Felt very relatable. 3) What would you like to achieve as an artist? . What I personally would love to achieve is just knowing my music is impacting at least one person, because if it is, it’s all worth it. Enjoying music and letting it have a large affect on your life are two totally different things. I want people to know they’re not alone out there in whatever battle they’re going through in life, and I think it’s important to be reminded of that. I even need to be reminded of that. In a nutshell I just want to help people, that what I want to achieve. 4) What is your most memorable moment while being an artist? . Considering I launched the “Lil Zing” project on October 21st and its October 28th. The most memorable moment I have had thus far is waking up and seeing that my view count and monthly listeners on Spotify have continued to double in size ever day. It has been a week since I launched this project and I have 1,128 monthly listeners and 7,500+ total streams on my music. That’s been memorable for sure. 5) who is the biggest artist you’ve worked with? . The biggest artist I’ve worked with is Blackbear, though I don’t have a song out with him or anything of the sort. We used to live together at one point in Beverly Hills and played a lot of shows together in the area before his career blew up. A lot of people freak out about it, but I’ll always see Blackbear as a person, a friend, and not a celebrity. 6) tell us a little more about your recent project? . My most recent project I’ve been working on is my song “Another Day”. I already have it recorded, so I’m not technically working on it in and of itself, but I have a lot planned around that one song. From photo shoots, short film (maybe), to a music video. I really want to see this single bypass my first song “Tell Me Its Ok”. 7) What should we be looking forward to from you in the future? . You should be looking forward to me putting out a lot higher quality music. From lyrics, instruments, style, to audio in and of itself. I’ve been recording in my room with a crap $98 microphone from Guitar Center, but now I have the funds to go to an actual studio and gets things recorded professionally. That will be a huge game changer. 8) is there anything else you would like to tell our readers? . When you chase your dream, don’t chase the emptiness of it. Don’t chase money, don’t chase fame, don’t chase the things of this life that will not satisfy. Because I can assure you that when you get to the point you worked so hard for you still wont be happy if you place identity in the things of this world. So focus on the passion and if something happens awesome, if it doesn’t, who cares. You’re still doing what you love. Thank you for the love and support everyone. God bless you.
