Interview With Ares Knight
We were fortunate enough to interview up and coming artist Ares Knight. He also has a new single entitled N64 (Linked Bellow)
When did you realise that you had a passion for music?
I have always been in love with music for the most part. There was always some type of music going on in my family from jazz to gospel to hip hop. My family just has a strong musical lineage and I couldn’t deny the effect it had on me when I would listen to it. When I started creating my own I was like “this is it..this is my release”.
Who are your main inspirations as an artist?
Jay Z is a big inspiration musically and business wise. Kurt Cobain & Chris Cornell always inspire my creative process...I’m a big grunge fan. Tupac, E-40, Notorious, Yeezy (old yeezy), Spice 1, Daft Punk, Steely Dan...some of these artists seem like they don’t mix with my style, but none the less their music inspires my creative process. I can’t listen to only hip-hop and stay inspired. I keep a wide range of sources to pull from.
What would you like to achieve as an artist?
Honestly, I just want to make a major impact through the music and cement my name. That’s all I want to do is put my art out into the universe and have that shit become a part of history. I love music history, so I want a piece of that.
What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?
My most memorable moment as an artist is probably me bouncing back from this deep depression, not even thinking I would rap anymore and just went in the studio like a monster. I had my team there and it was just amazing. I reassured myself what they believed all along. I can’t lose it because I’ll always have it. This hip hop shit lives inside of me permanently.
What is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?
No comment (laugh). I’m not going to speak much on it because it ain’t amount to anything, but just know this answer will be different in the next year, so we’ll talk then.
Tell us a little more about your recent project?
The single “N64” has just been doing these great ass numbers. Really inspiring type numbers and I’m grateful for the love on that release. It’s the first track dropped off my upcoming “Royale” EP and it was just embraced with love. It’s still growing and that’s what I love to see. Now the next move is the EP drop and that drops on all streaming platforms August 13th. It’s gonna be a dope project most definitely. I feel it’s gonna have some heads bobbing.
What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?
In the future just prepare to see a lot more from me and hear a lot more from me. I have a lot of work from myself and my S.L.I.E. team prepared to drop on everybody in the next year. It’s about to be a fun ride most definitely. My lifestyle clothing brand “Diamond Royale” will be appearing in the coming months as well, so we’re keeping busy over here.
Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
All I can say is stay hungry, stay inspired, ignore the negativity, know your worth & own your art.
