Gemini One Releases New EP'Per Aspera'

November 4, 2019

Gemini One has released their new EP entitled 'Per Aspera'.

Gemini One was founded in 2009 by Mathias Rudolph (guitar, drums) and Tobias Schmitt (bass) in Saarbrücken (Germany) as an instrumental doom metal band. In the same year, the duo released its self-titled EP by their own.

In 2018, Rudolph and Schmitt got together again and recorded new songs as a duo. These recordings became the EP „Per Aspera“, which displays their musical roots as well as postrock influences.

The EP is dedicated to all the people, who made sacrifices on scientific, progressive and human grounds – no matter if voluntary or non-voluntary. They are proof that something big can emerge from pain and that setbacks keep us moving. We bow to all of them because they are the ones paving our way the way to the stars“, explains Schmitt.

This is an extremely ambitious project, that pushes the limits and creates some enjoyable and exciting sounds for rock and metal fans to enjoy. The Ep has only four songs but totals to a run time of 30 minutes.

The following is a tack list and a link to where the album can be heard:

My favourite track on this EP is undoubtedly 'Primum Sanguis'. This composition slowly develops and evolves into a horrific masterpiece. The sounds are grungey and dark and allude to a grimy and right listening experience. The execution of the riffs and how it works in coordination with the drum pattern is insane. This track is mental and I love it.

Another track that needs to be heard is 'Per Aspera'. This composition has an eerie beginning, and the guitar directs a surreal and mysterious narrative for the listener to follow along with. It is a slow start, but the guitar touches down like lightning and really electrifies this track.

This is a highly recommended EP and you can listen here:
