Interview With Dominic Mestayer
We were fortunate enough to interview singer/songwriter Dominic Mestayer.
When did you realise that you had a passion for music?
I first realized that music was my life when I was thirteen and my aunt Lisa bought me a guitar for Christmas. I hadn't put it down since and haven't stopped writing.
Who are your main inspirations as an artist?
I think I'd have to say that Chris Cornell, Johnny Rotten, Dax Riggs, and Randolph Schultz are my main influences in music. I've gotten a little something from each of their music that changed me as a person and musician. What would you like to achieve as an artist?
I'd like to be heard and connect with people through my music. I hope that some of the personal things I write about can help someone else either by not making the same mistakes/decisions that I did or let them know they are not alone, or even just bring a smile to one person's face.
What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?
The most memorable.... Would probably have to be the night that the band I was in (Anisette) opened for Shinedown and Seether in Baton Rouge, LA. It was an amazing night and everything really clicked! I distinctly remember having one of the greatest shows of my life with my best friends.
Who is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?
I'm not sure how to rank them but I've shared stage with Shinedown, Seether, Crossfade, 7Mary3, and The Bare Naked Ladies. All where awesome and the guys in those bands were cool as hell!
Tell us a little more about your recent project?
My most recent writing is all about overcoming your worst enemy, yourself. It's about love, drugs, loss, and life.... Start living people, you only get to try life once!!!
What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?
I'm still in the process of writing and recording what I hope will end up being either a long EP or a full length album. It's been an amazing journey so far.
Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
If you check out my soundcloud page, I hope you can relate to the songs and get something from them.
