Interview With Jozsef James

We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity interview singer/songwriter Jozsef James.

1) When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

When I was five years old I was watching Aussie rock band INXS play on TV and knew from that moment that’s what I wanted to do. Seeing the lead singer Michael Hutchence own the crowd and make so many people dance to the music was something very intriguing to me. The connection he had with thousands of people by using his voice was mind blowing.

2) Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

I am inspired by so many artists and have such a large palette which causes me to have a very MOR style as I want to incorporate so many styles in to one song. Vocally I have always loved Marvin Gaye, Prince, Otis Redding. As far as stage performance I draw inspiration from Michael Hutchence of INXS, Jamiroquai and Jim Morrison of Doors.

3) What would you like to achieve as an artist?

I have carried a piece of paper in my wallet for over 10 years now that states “I want to be a successful, touring musician that wins a Grammy and has a #1 song on the Billboard charts’. I think they are some pretty good goals to work towards.

4) What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?

Splitting my pants from crotch to backside while trying to stand on a bar stool mid song. Literally exposing myself to 150 people. Mind you I wasn’t wearing any underwear.

5) Tell us a little more about your recent project?

‘I Am Human’ is my new single and was produced by Danny Saber who has worked with The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Madonna and produced Michael Hutchence posthumous album. We have worked on a few new songs since my last EP release and will be releasing two more singles, then a new EP over the next couple months. I will begin touring next year with my launch show in Los Angeles in January. We recorded the new songs over the space of 8 months at his studio in the valley (California). This is my most personal project (lyrically) yet.

7) What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?

I feel like I am at a stage right now where my music is at it’s most honest and mature. If you listen carefully to my new songs, you will get a pretty decent insight into who I am as a person, where I was, and where I am going. I am exposing myself and being very vulnerable but it feels so right. I have a new EP coming out, new music videos and most of all touring in 2020 is what I am most excited about.

8) is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?

I’m going against the grain, against all trends. Join me…….lets be freaky weirdo’s together and create our own trends.
