42 PROBOI a.k.a Game Worthy From Behind Bars: The Interview

December 7, 2019

How long have you been locked up? And what are your charges?

I've been locked up for a year. Well actually 10 months. Initially I was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell\distribute within 1000 ft of a church, I was facing 78 months. I went to trial and If I lost my maximum sentence could have been 30 years because I’m a habitual offender and those charges placed me under the (PRR)Prison Release Reoffender Act. I was just released from prison in 2016. The jury found me guilty but of a lesser charge which was misdemeanor possession of marijuana and the judge gave me the max sentence, a year.

What’s an average day like for you locked up?

My day usually consists of waking up, eating 3 meals a day, working out 3-4 times a week depending on the day, using the phone or sending an email home, watching television and I've spent the majority of my time trying to recreate myself by writing music.

Has your mindset changed during this incarceration?

My mindset has definitely changed, this minor setback has prepared me for a major comeback. I'm focused on more positive and productive ventures that will provide a better future.

What inspires you?

Musically I'm inspired by numerous artists and different genres of music. In life I've always admired great thinkers and doers that have made contributions to society.

What’s the biggest problem you’ve had to overcome?

I'd have to say my biggest adversity has been the streets and of course my criminal background which has kept me from entering sophisticated and professional environments which I should be a part of because I am well educated.

What’s next for you?

The sky is the limit but I'm looking to apply my entrepreneurial skills into some legitimate business ventures besides the music.

What about the creative process excites you most?

It gives me an outlet to express my interpretation on various themes and subjects, because we all perceive things differently.

Do you write or freestyle?

I’m gifted I actually do both, the majority of my music has been freestyling but since my incarceration I've taken advantage of the time and put my writing skills to use. But my freestyle is a different creative process.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

If I could give my fans one message it would be to always believe and invest in yourself and never settle.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

(lol)Depends on which ones you speak of. I wouldn't encourage negativity or a life of crime but be smart in whatever decisions you make and always know that it's never too late for change.

Why do you create music? What need does it satisfies?

I've always had a passion for music, I think it runs in the family. I'm also a thinker so it's a challenge to try and create my own masterpiece. The end result makes me proud of myself that my thought process is still intact.

How do you know when a piece is done?

Good question (lol). With me striving for perfection and being my own biggest critic I'm usually never sure it's complete. I've learned to be content and judgmental. The comments of my fans are the true reward letting me know it's sufficient.

Will you be releasing new music upon your release?

I absolutely will be dropping some new material upon my release. The mad scientist has been in the lab(lol) so keep an ear out for my music! 42 PROBOI a.k.a Game Worthy
