Dre Da Kingpen : 'If you plan on listening to our music be prepared to turn up!'

We were fortunate enough to interview artist Dre Da Kingpen.

1) When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

At around the age of 12 when it was introduced to me by my parents. My mom And dad were popular rappers in the city back in the day.

2) Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

Main inspirations would be my older brothers Mack Reese & Tay Diddy. They stay pushing me to go harder and Keep going. Besides them i would say Weezy and Drake because of their versatility and skill level. Its mind blowing how talented they are. Weezy wit the metaphors and entendres and doesn’t write anything. Then Drizzy with the dope things he says, the content, and can harmonize.

3) What would you like to achieve as an artist?

I would like to earn a platinum plaque, a grammy and make the billboards. I believe either one of the awards would solidify the quality of an artists’ music. To see all your hard-work be recognized.

4) What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?

Definitely winning on BET’s wild out wednesday back in 2011. It was a crazy dope experience.

5) Who is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?

Biggest artists would be all of LXMB, Peso Peso, Ryan Bowers, Lia, iamxlove, Mello Gambino, Shovelhead Tez, London bridgez, Dahtsoul, just to name a few.

6) Tell us a little more about your recent project?

Our recent project is titled “We workin”. And the goal was to have all types of vibes on the album. From rap all the way to rock and roll. We worked with some rock artists (Jay Wretched) has as well as some pop stars (Lia) on this album. So we wanted to create something for everyone. While at the same time keeping that hip-hop/rap essence.

7) What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?

Our squad is currently working on a new album titled “Beach boys”. However if you have not heard “we workin” I highly recommend everyone check that out because it is complete fire. Now I don’t want to sound cliché because of course it’s our work, but it’s been doing really good numbers and getting really good feedback. But beach boys would definitely be another classic.
