Exel: "I’m building long term. I’m building a legacy and stability."
We were fortunate enough to interview artist, Exel.
When did you realise that you had a passion for music?
I grew up around music and always had a passion for it. My dad owned a restaurant/bar that always had music playing and I was lucky enough to be surrounded by music since I was born.
Who are your main inspirations as an artist?
I find inspiration from tons of artists and genres. Some don’t even make sense, haha. I’m a fan of Lil Yachty and I’m also a fan of Johnny cash, haha
What would you like to achieve as an artist?
I’m just out here trying to make sure me and my team are eating good. I’m building long term. I’m building a legacy and stability.
What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?
When I had a cover song go viral on Facebook. That’s what really kick started my career and it’s been an amazing journey ever since.
Who is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?
I’d say Sauce Lord Rich. He’s an incredible artist and producer. His work is always fire. He did work with Post and so many amazing artists too. Sauce really helped me to find who I was musically and let me be myself and he showed belief in me. Forever humbled to have worked with him and to be able to call him a friend. I also can’t forget to mention my boy Menebeats. He is one of the illest and nicest people I’ve ever met. He does incredible production work and really pushed me extremely hard to get the most out of me.
Tell us a little more about your recent project?
It’s fun, it’s feel good, it’s turn up time (ayyyy) I’m lookin forward to everyone smiling to these tracks coming up.
What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?
A lot! I gotta stay quiet, but I’m blessed for all the positive and negative things in my life that led me on this path. I finally feel like I’m doing what I love.
Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
Be yourself. Love yourself. Push forward for what you want daily. Get rid of negative things and people. Go get what you want. I also love y’all. Thanks for being here with me.
