Taylor Conley Interview: 'If I can do this, anyone can.'

We were fortunate enough to interview artist Taylor Conley from Designer Conviction.

1. When did you realize you had a passion for music?

a. I realized I had a passion for music as long as I can remember. What I love the most about music is all it’s different genres and forms.

2. Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

a. Well I’m an artist in many forms. I write music, poetry, I draw and paint. I get inspired by artist such as Brantley Gilbert, Jason Aldean, I love a lot of country and hip-hop. Yelawolf, Rittz. I love 90’s alternative like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam. I would say that is the main inspiration behind a lot of the music I’ve already released. I’ve also drawn a lot of inspiration from Seth Anthony.

3. What would you like to achieve as an artist?

a. I would like to achieve being recognized as an artist in all its platforms I want people to be inspired by viewing their life as a work of art itself.

4. What was your most memorable moment of being an artist?

a. My most memorable moment as an artist was when I was able to put together my first song. In a maximum-security prison, inside a small music room that used to be available. I figured out how to play guitar, how to put words to a song. I will never forget that because I used to write poetry. Being able to put music into my poetry inspired me to want to continue to write songs.

5. Who is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?

a. Seth Anthony

6. Tell us a little more about your recent project?

a. The project we just released is a three-song rock mix. Kind of like a 90s style grunge band vibe. It was developed and created inside of prison together with Caleb Twidwell. We got in touch after he was released from prison and he agreed to go into the studio and record the project. We have a few more tracks we will be releasing later that have a country vibe.

7. What should we be looking forward to you doing in the future?

a. We are almost done with another project with musician Seth Anthony. It’s a six song EP with a country/hip-hop style. I admired Seth’s music, so I reached out to him and we decided to collaborate on some songs. The music will feature Bubba Sparxx. Look forward to that coming out soon.

8. Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?

a. I would just like to tell people that it doesn’t matter where you’re at in life, where you come from, or what you’re currently doing. As long as you follow your dreams you can achieve anything. Look at me, I’m serving life without the possibility of parole in prison and have been able to create a social enterprise that has developed a magazine. Along with releasing songs we have a YouTube Channel, and a podcast I host behind bars called Life of a Lifer. I’m growing team, and although we still are in the beginning stages it’s really catching on. If I can do this, anyone can. If you can believe it, you can achieve it.
