Interview With Adrian Aguilera

We were fortunate enough to interview rising musician, Adrian Aguilera, with the recent release of his new mixtape, 'Dark Knights And Sleepless Tales'.

When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

My passion for music started when i was a kid about 6 or 7 years old. I come from a hispanic background so anything my parents listened to was in spanish. Till one day my neighbor played hip hop on the radio and showed me. I was captivated on what this new sound was. I loved it I wanted to hear more and ever since I loved the rhythm of hip hop that I started to write poetry. If there was a song on the radio I would try to replicate the artist on paper and pen. I kept going and I became in love with this passion.

Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

I have inspiration from artists to producers for example my first hip hop track i listen to was Tupac and Dr Dre California love. This song started this journey. I look up to legends like Tupac, Dr Dre, B.I.G, Nas, Will Smith, BIG L, BIG Pun, Guru from Gang Starr theres alot more, to producers as J Dilla, Pete Rock, Dj Primer, Dj Jazzy Jeff, The Alchemist, Madlib. Hearing what they create inspires me to never quit.

What would you like to achieve as an artist?

What I would love to achieve as an artist is recognition, respect and admiration. I also would love to inspire other artists from old to new up and coming artists. To have them see my accomplishments and have them walk the path I walk through inspiration is an achievement of itself.

What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?

I feel like the moments I remember most are the moments in the beginning. Where I barely learned how to record and I struggled to sync myself with the beat. It caused frustration but through that I never quit. It made me pursue it and I grew.

Who is the biggest artist you’ve worked with?

I haven't worked with any big artist but there are artists that I would like to work with. I would like to work with Logic, Isaiah Rashad, Your Old Droog, Earthgang, Freddie Gibbs, and J.I.D.

Tell us a little more about your recent project?

Dark Knights and Sleepless Tales is a project that I've been working on for 6 months. The concept behind it is me trying to keep up with current artists. I felt I was behind so I would work after my daily job to keep up with this dream of mine. Sometimes I would not sleep at all to write and record. After I finish what I would work on I would look outside my window and see the night sky dark and blank.

What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?

I plan on continuing making more albums. At the end of the year or sooner I will release another album. In 2021 I have two mixtape/albums as well lined up for my fans.

Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?

I have come along way and I pride myself of what I've accomplished. Life is all about learning and growing. I'll carry that till I am no more and hopefully someone else can learn from what I've done and further it.
