Interview With Molone

We were firtunate enough to interview artist Molone.

When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

I remember when my father showed me a radio for the first time. He turned that thing on and then there was music. It just catched me and I started getting up at night to turn on the radio and listen to the music. I was just 3 years old and my mother and father were not very amused by the noise at night. As a father of 4 today, I can understand that a healthy portion of sleep is beneficial.

Who are your biggest inspirations as an artist?

My first contact with music was in times of the so called Neue Deutsche Welle. I like that kind of music a lot and it has clearly left its mark on me. Later on I was impressed by more sophisticated musicians as STING and Coldplay. Sting combines so many styles of music and makes it sound fitting. I really like that. Chris Martin and Coldplay are a constant in music business and their sound is amazing and opens up worlds. I am really grateful for what they give me with their music.

What does your music aim to say?

Today's life seems very hectic and heterogeneous. This is reflected every day on the internet. Short and stimulus-flooded sequences of images and the lack of constants in life that we can hold on to are the result. With my music I really want to give people a constant. No aggressive messages, no provocations, no over-sexualised lyrics. I want to tell simple stories like we all experience in real life far away from the digital hustle and bustle. They are not always positive, but it's important to me that they are not extreme. And I have a lot to tell when I look at my biography.

How does your work comment on current social issues?

You Stay With Me is about the belief in finding your soulmate and spending the rest of your life with her or him, raising a family and being happy. How boring ;) Nowadays I can so often see people trying to find solutions by running away from reality and going to extremes. I have a message: It is absolutely ok to have a boring life. Don't get caught up in the hustle and bustle around you. Do your thing. It doesn't matter what the people around you think about you, you don't have to please them, you have to like yourself how you are. If you are at peace with yourself, the world will be too.

Thank you very much!
