Joe Hodgson Set To Release Debut Single 'The One That Got Away'

Joe Hodgson will be releasing his debut single 'The One That Got Away', on Friday 28th August. The single is from the artist's forthcoming album 'Apparitions' - which we are feverish with anticipation to check out upon its official release.

A picture can say 1000 words, but how about a track with no lyrics? 'The One That Got Away' says at least 10,000 words, thanks to the personification of the electric guitar, and how this marvellous instrument expresses emotion and distress - without the need of any lyrics.

This track as you can guess, is an instrumental of the rock genre. The absence of vocals leaves more to the imagination of the listener, who can draw their own conclusions and interpretations from the track, without being restricted by lyrics. Hodgson puts the guitar to work in this track, with 4 minutes and 26 seconds of electrifying, versatile and dynamic riffing, chord playing and soloing. The changing pitches and varying intensity of the electric guitar, add an assortment of flavor to the composition, enhancing the raw emotion and passion. The drums and bass work seamlessly to support the electric guitar, and complete the composition, with the drums sustaining a steady momentum, and the bass filling in the gaps.

Everything about this project is remarkable, from the music itself, to the careful consideration of the cover art - and how it can best express the feelings and emotions uncovered in the track.

The overarching theme of the music is further incorporated on the forthcoming album cover, and as Joe explains “It’s about how nothing ever stays the same, everything changes or decays; lives are lived, and love is lost, but looking forward is the one thing we can all do. Yes, we may have regrets, but hope and optimism are usually only around the next corner”.

This is a highly recommended track and I am looking forward to future projects by Joe Hodgson.

Until the track's release, we can share with you this teaser:
