Shamon Dae Brand New Dae Album Review

We were fortunate enough to interview artist Shamon Dae.

When did you realise that you had a passion for music?

At an early age I realized that I liked music and especially the lyrics. I have family members that are very talented artists too, so they inspired me a lot, it’s definitely a family thing. I used to enter poetry contest and some of my friends did music so it was a great introduction.

Who are your main inspirations as an artist?

OutKast would be my biggest influence starting out, I just loved the way they created concepts that you could see and feel.

What would you like to achieve as an artist?

I’ve done so much already but I want to be recognized as one of the best in my craft.

What is your most memorable moment while being an artist?

Anytime I’m able to perform and interact with my true fans, that’s the moment I embrace most. A lot of my songs that I write are coming from a place of healing, so there’s nothing better than seeing how your music can resonate with people to make you cherish that.

Tell us a little more about your recent project?

My album Brand New Dae is reflective of my life the past few years. This was my last gift to my mother who passed, one of my last conversations with her was to finish what I started with my music and release it. When she died I lost myself and the motivation to create. Eventually I found other outlets to channel my creativity, but it wasn’t the same. I began hearing her voice reminding me to release my music and I did finally listen. Overall, I’m very proud of what this album has turned out to be, and I was blessed to have worked with so many talented artists and producers from my city to be apart of this. It covers every creative base that I was going through.

What should we be looking forward to from you in the future?

Currently I’m working on new music to be more consistent with my content. I’m a big believer in manifestation and universal energy, so I’m working on a book to help artists that are stuck in that in between place of creativity as well.

Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
